There is, however, another theory that Chihuahuas originated from the Mediterranean. There was a fresco, painted by Sandro Boticelli in 1841, called “Scenes From the Life of Moses”.
This picture depicts a woman holding two dogs with Chihuahua characteristics (round head, large eyes and big ears). This picture was painted before the artist could have been to the new world, leading some to believe there were Chihuahuas in Europe.
